Language Research Data Management

The mission of the node Language Research Management  (L-RDM) is to strengthen research support capacity in language data management by providing practical, scalable resources and training aligned with academic, funder, and international RDM standards.

Objectives

The Language Research Data Management Node (Language-RDM Node) promotes the collaborative development of resources, training, and practical support to improve awareness, capacity, and consistency in the management of language data across disciplines (as exemplified by initiatives such as the LaDaD project). In addition, the Node addresses the timely topic of artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs), with a focus on raising awareness of their potential as tools for language data management, including AI-assisted tools and applications such as automated annotation, data organization, and metadata generation.

Its key tasks include promoting and aligning best practices in language-related RDM and AI-supported workflows, coordinating training workshops and events (notably on Data Management Plans and RDM standards), fostering strategic collaboration among institutional and national support partners, laying the groundwork for sustainable long-term training programmes, and building a community of research professionals working with language data across a wide range of scientific disciplines.

Organization

The contact person of the node is: Gorka Fraga González. The initiators of the node are Joanna Blochowiak (UZH) and Gorka Fraga González (UZH). The lead of the node will be established during the kickoff meeting and renewed on annual basis.
