About Us

The Swiss Research Data Support Network (SRDSN) aims to create a dynamic, inclusive community for research data support staff across Switzerland. We foster collaboration, share knowledge, and develop best practices among professionals in libraries, IT services, core facilities, and research management offices.

Members discuss key topics and exchange expertise through regular meetings and specialized nodes, and promote the professionalization of research data management. Our commitment to sustainability and inclusivity is ensured through good governance. This framework includes membership rules, an code of conduct, and a memorandum of understanding. We actively engage with global initiatives, invite international experts to our events, and promote cross-border cooperation to stay at the forefront of research data support.

Governance

The Operational Committee (OC)

The OC coordinates and organizes biannual events and reviews memberships. It manages the editorial board for the network's communication channels, including the website and Zenodo Community. This permanent body includes at least eight administrative members, with new members invited annually to ensure diverse representation.

The Steering Committee (SC)

The SC sets criteria and rules for the nodes. It reviews and accepts nodes by voting and handles violations of our code of conduct. SC members meet with nodes annually to review updates and set future goals. The SC receives annual feedback from a Sounding Board to guide SRDSN's developments and achievements. The committee consists of up to four permanent members and members rotating bi-annually from other network institutions.

Nodes

Nodes of the network focus on specific aspects of research data management support. Nodes can be initiated by all SRDSN members and are chaired by node leads. Node leads set goals, define the node's scope and determine outcomes of the node. Furthermore, they report regularly to the SC on the node's results. They are responsible for communication and dissemination activities. Membership of the node is open to everyone of the SRDSN. However, it is dependent on the definition of a member according to the node's concept. Nodes are permanent, as long as there is a need for them.
